Effective Treatment Methods for Lipedema

Managing Lipedema can be exhausting physically, mentally, and financially. There are multiple ways women can get relief from their symptoms and help prevent the disease from progressing. The key is to figure out what works best for YOU so that you can help streamline managing your symptoms and not spend a lot (mentally, financially, and time) feeling your best!

Here are the top treatment methods people are getting relief from Lipedema!

Compression Garments

○ Compression garments can get a bad reputation and it can be a delicate conversation. From my experience with working with A LOT of ladies with lipedema, compression garments can be the method that is tough to get used to, but once you build a tolerance and find the right pair of compression many women hate to leave home without them! Check out my Top 3 Lipedema Garments I recommend!

Pneumatic Pump

This method can be tricky with getting a pump that is medical grade if you don’t have a lymphedema specialist or physician that can help you, but a lot of my patients have purchased them online and feel that they help as well. A pump can be a great way to drain to the lymphatic system and massage lipedema tissue without you having to do it yourself. A popular time of day to do this is at the end of the day when someone is relaxing watching TV or reading.

Vibration Plate

Vibration plates have become more popular and the ease of purchasing online has helped their popularity. There are a lot of options you can do with a vibration plate including standing, resting your legs on it, and exercising! If you choose to get one, play around with it and see what feels best for you. I do recommend you wear compression garments while vibrating to help support the lipedema tissue and lymphatic system! Dr. Herbst recommends the vibration plate as a form of exercise and says it helps move stubborn, stuck lymph fluid. Here is one of mine and Dr. Herbst’s favorites.

Whatever method you choose, make sure to try one thing at a time and give it a little time to see if it is the right fit for you!
